Artist's Comments

Art output for the past month or so hasn't been as low as it seems, it's just that I can't post most of it until January. ;-)

This, I can post: an illustration that goes with a River Twine Holt ([link]) story, "Fight or Flight pt.2", that was written by myself and Heidi, the owner of Willow. Blacksnake is giving Willow a bit of a kick in the butt over her freaking out about her newly-emerging healer powers.

Pentel Pocket-brush Pen inks, Copic marker coloring, aftereffects in Photoshop; background is a photo of frost-covered bushes.

Pieces like this make me regret that I don't play in any kind of Elfquest RP. Beautiful! I love the wintry feel.

here I was like...WOOOOAH recognition?!?

I love this. Its simply stunning

The poet ranks far below the painter in the representation of visible things, and far below the musician in that of invisibe things.

Lovely! I liked the story panel feel to it. :D

I thought of recognition first, too =P ... I really like how you show the same moment from different perspectives =).

Thanks! I really enjoy drawing winter scenes when it *is* wintry outside. :)

Hah! Man, whenever Willow Recognizes, I hope she looks HAPPIER about it than that! ;-)

(To be honest, the scene in the story was sort of purposefully borrowing what is usually Recognition imagery, deliberately playing with that expectation and then not fulfilling it. So yeah, I was aware of the overtones.)

Thanks! The only other way I could have done it, I guess, would have been with both in profile. But I thought it would be more effective for the reader to get to see what each is seeing... and then, I didn't want to decide whose face to show and whose not to, so...
:iconsgaana:
Thank you! :) Yeah, as I commented below -- we were sort of deliberately playing with the classic Recog tableau, a bit. Not this time, though! ;)

A really sensitive panel. The chars are beautiful, the expressions are perfect and you even thought of details like the "cold breath", that adds even more realism. Really a nice piece of work :-)
